STARSEEKER 1.0.6 Patch Notes

We have some Launch Recap news to share and a new Patch! Check out the changes in STARSEEKER Patch 1.0.6.

STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions. Patch 1.0.6

STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions is out now and it’s been exhilarating to see so many Astroneers jumping into their own Expeditions! As can happen with new game launches releasing simultaneously across multiple platforms, we experienced some extended server downtime on launch day, but we’ve had servers back up and seem to addressed those initial troubles.

We apologize for the inconvenience and really appreciate everyone's patience while we smoothed out the launch day bumps.

To help make up for that lost time, we have sent a special gift to everyone’s in-game INBOX with the following items:

  • 300 Credits
  • 500 Bytes
  • Power Mod V1
  • Stamina Mod V1

This bundle of items will be granted to anyone who logs into the game before Friday, June 12th, at Midnight PST

We hope you continue to enjoy playing STARSEEKER and we look forward to sharing more of what we have prepared for future updates

STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions

TANGLE COMMUNITY CHALLENGE

Many of our Beta playtest players have been asking when the Tangle Community Challenge will return, and the answer is... Tuesday, June 16th at 8AM PST

For new players who are just jumping into STARSEEKER, Community Challenges are just what they sound like. Astroneers aboard the ESS Starseeker must all work together toward contributing the Challenge’s requested items in order to unlock a new Region. In this case, that’s the Tangle!

When a new Region unlocks, the whole community gains access to new Missions, new craftable items, and new adventures! You’ll learn more about it as we approach its release.

PATCH 1.0.6

For our first post-launch patch, we focused on addressing some of our most common crashes and connection issues, as well as a couple of places we saw performance dips in the game. This patch also includes a handful of gameplay updates, bug fixes, and even a few bits of polish!

Nintendo Delay: Patch 1.0.6 will be delayed for the Nintendo Switch 2, instead, this platform will be updated to Patch 1.0.5. We’ll share messaging on our social channels once the update has passed certification and is going live.

  • Cross-Progression Warning: If you play on the Switch 2 and have more than one Platform linked for cross-progression, then we recommend playing only on the platform with the latest version of the game available. Avoid playing on the Switch 2 only in this case, until the latest patch has released on Nintendo.
  • Cross-Play Warning: While the Switch 2 version is mismatched to other platforms, multiplayer won’t work across platforms to the Switch 2.

Steam Store Tags: Shortly after launch, we decided we should remove the “Single Player” tag from the game since it was misleading players on what we meant. While you’re able to queue alone for Expeditions and are never forced to join a Squad of other players, you do need to play online and other players will always be around you.

BALANCE CHANGES

  • AG-18011 – The objective for JAM-BX's Mission 'Let's Get Clinical' no longer requests an item before its crafting Blueprint has been unlocked.
    • Developer Note: While most players were getting through this Mission by stumbling upon the required item in caches, the intended experience is that players are able to craft an item before it becomes required for Mission progress. Except for Ensign Muriel’s Missions. She’s just eccentric.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • AG-17900 – To assist with readability, Crew Member Mission text now stays on screen longer.
  • AG-18086 – To assist with wayfinding, the type and size of waypoint icons have been adjusted in the Tutorial for the Depot and the Landing Zone.

BUG FIXES

  • Addressed our most common GPU start up crash.
  • Added a number of fixes for observed server crashes.
  • Fixed a common source of performance decline encountered during Expeditions.
  • Fixed a common source of performance decline on the ESS Starseeker, when rendering the player’s avatar on the station signs.
  • Fixed an issue that showed unreleased cosmetic items in the Customizer. Nothing to see here, move along.
  • AG-15001 – Made improvements to address an issue where players can appear invisible to their squadmates after landing on Tephra.
    • Developer Note: This bug has been harder for us to pin down, and we’ve issued a number of fixes for it over the course of Beta testing. We may need to continue deploying fixes until we fully resolve the problem.
  • AG-4153 – Fixed an issue where synced emotes were not properly showing across different clients.
  • AG-11707 – Added missing Crew Member idle animations.
  • AG-17894 – Fixed an issue that could allow players to move around while in a downed state after opening Planet View.
  • AG-18028 – Made improvements to address a UI memory leak. Additional fixes will come in future patches, but this should reduce the occurrence.
  • AG-17906 – Fixed an issue that could cause cinematics to stretch on ultrawide monitors. They are now properly locked to a 16:9 ratio. No more Widestroneers.
  • AG-18144 – Fixed an issue that was preventing all three Palettes included in the Engineering Pack from appearing in the in-game EXO Outlet preview.

PATCH 1.0.5

Since there will be a delay for getting Patch 1.0.6  certified by Nintendo, today’s patch will bring the Switch 2 version of the game to version 1.0.5 instead, with the following changes. We’ll share messaging on our social channels once the update has passed certification and is going live.

BALANCE CHANGES

  • AG-17880 – Moved the Backpack V3 reward out of the Wetlands Mission chain to later in the player progression.

BUG FIXES

  • AG-16156 – Fixed the ‘Fit Check’ Sticker notification so it no longer triggers with every completed Expedition.
  • AG-15094 – Fixed an issue affecting the progress bar on “Press and Hold” actions on the Nintendo Switch 2.
  • AG-17966 – Fixed an error that would not properly track ownership of the Engineering Pack cosmetics across different platforms.

STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions is now available on Steam, the Xbox for PC App, Xbox Series X|SPlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 in Early Access!
