STARSEEKER Open Beta starts April 30th!

The STARSEEKER Open Beta is finally about to start! Learn everything you need to know about participation, dates, cool rewards, and more!

Join the Open Beta! Starting April 30th STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions BETA

STARSEEKER’s first open playtest is coming up! Starting Thursday, April 30th, at 8:00 AM PT, folks who have already signed up via First Look will get to participate in the Beta playtest. In case we hit a player limit and you don’t want to miss out; make sure you sign up in advance to guarantee a spot!

Sign Up for the Open Beta

This will offer an opportunity for everyone to play a slice of the full game, meaning that some of the narrative, events, progression, items, and available planet surface regions to explore will be held back so we don’t spoil all the fun for the game’s proper launch.

And while we’re getting closer to launch every day, this is still an early look at the game, so things might change between what you see in the beta and launch day.

Playtest STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions BETA and earn the Retro Suit

PLAYTEST REWARD

As a show of our appreciation for all playtesters helping put our game through its paces and sharing valuable feedback, we have a special reward. Everyone who participates in a STARSEEKER playtest, including previous closed playtests, will receive the Retro Suit for STARSEEKER! This will be granted once we’re closer to the game’s launch.

TWITCH Drops Enabled STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions BETA Earn the Twitchwalker Palette

TWITCH DROPS INCOMING

And that’s not all the goodies that are up for grabs! Keep an eye out for the opportunity to unlock a unique STARSEEKER cosmetic via Twitch Drops.

Starting with the Open Beta on Thursday, April 30th, and running up to the end of the playtest on May 4th, Twitch Drops will be activated! During this time, watch eligible Starseeker streams on Twitch with Drops enabled to unlock the Twitchwalker Palette after a total of 1 hour of watch time.

Once you’ve unlocked a reward, you can claim it from your Twitch Drops dropdown list and it will be saved to your Twitch account inventory. Simply link your Twitch account to the game and you’ll be able to use it during the Open Beta.

For any troubleshooting needs with Twitch Drops, you can refer to this support link.

OPEN BETA FAQ

If you’re participating in the Open Beta, remember to keep an eye out for any emails from the System Era team for any updates and relevant information about the Open Beta. It will be sent to the email you used to register with Firstlook.

You’ll also want to keep this information handy.

How long will the Open Beta be available?

It will be available for four days, running between these dates.

  • Start Date: Thursday, April 30th, at 8:00 AM PT
  • End Date: Monday, May 4th, at 8:00 AM PST

What platforms can I play the Open Beta on?

The Open Beta will be available on PC via Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation.

What languages is the Open Beta available in?

The Open Beta will be available only in English.

Is crossplay and cross-progression available during the Open Beta?

Crossplay will be enabled, allowing you to play with other players across different platforms. However, cross-progression won’t be available for the Open Beta, so your progress won't carry over if you start playing on a different platform.

How much of the game is available during the Open Beta?

You’ll be able to almost completely play through the new player experience, with the opening game Missions, a wide variety of both Tasks and Field Missions to encounter, and one full region to explore on the planet of Tephra with another available to be unlocked through the Community Challenge. Rank progression with mission-giving NPCs will also be capped at rank 7.

That said, we don’t want to spoil the fun ahead of the game’s full release, so we’re holding back most areas of Tephra, much of the narrative, some progression rewards, and plenty of other surprises.

Can I still get in the Open Beta if I signed up after the playtest has started?

Yes, we will be sending out waves of invites in the measure that we still have capacity available. However, the best way to guarantee a spot is to sign up in advance, before April 30th.

Can I invite a friend to the Open Beta?

Yes, if you opted to play the Open Beta on Steam then you will find that you have 3 invites assigned to you on the "STARSEEKER Astroneer Expeditions Playtest" app in your Steam library, under the Install/Play button. These invites should work even if the player cap is reached and will be usable for the duration of the Open Beta.

How do I find other players to play with?

Aside from sending in-game invites for players to join your squad, you can join the official Discord server and use the Looking-for-Group channel as well as our dynamic voice channels.

How do I report bugs I encounter?

Since this is an early look at the game, reporting any issues you run into will be tremendously helpful. Please report bugs you encounter via this email: starseekersupport@systemera.net

Where do I share feedback?

We will be sending surveys to gather feedback to the email you used for signing up to First Look, so keep an eye out for those.

Can I openly talk about my playtest experience and share screenshots or videos of my gameplay?

Yes, there are no confidentiality restrictions for the Open Beta. However, playtest content previously covered under NDA remains confidential and should not be shared.

Will my Open Beta progression be saved for launch?

No, progress will be reset after the end of this playtest.

When do I get my Retro Suit for participating in a playtest?

You will receive your Retro Suit once we’re closer to the game’s launch later this year.

Once I unlock the Twitch Drops rewards during the Open Beta, will they still be available for the game’s launch?

Yes, your Twitch Drop rewards are saved to your Twitch Drops Inventory. Once the game launches later this year, you’ll just need to relink your Twitch account to the game for these rewards to be accessible again.
